Small Gift Bag and box

Back in October I found this great website (www.chicnscratchlive.com) with wonderful tutorials to make lots of cute boxes and bags. These are two of the projects I made with her tutorials. First up is a cute bag that I made for my friend. It held 4 of those yummy Lindor truffle chocolate balls. This bag is actually smaller than the directions Angie gives in her tutorial.
I made this Halloween bag using her dimensions, but decided it was too big, so I changed it up just a little. If you are interested here is the direct link to the tutorial. And I just used a 7 x 9 1/2 piece of paper and scored it at 2" and 5" on the 7" side and 4" and 5 1/2" on the 9 1/2" side, but followed her directions for folding and assembling.
This is another tutorial from the same web site. This box holds about 3 mini candy bars. This is an origami box, lots of folding, not much cutting and gluing. I prefer the cutting and gluing, so
I don't think I'd make it again, but it's always fun to try something new.

Advent Calendar

First, I must apologize to my few readers who, I'm sure are wondering where I went. Well, after discovering in late Oct that I was expecting baby number 3, that first trimester just drained all of my energy and I wasn't creating as much as I wanted. Then, once I got my energy back, and a few projects to share, the weather was so overcast and yucky that I couldn't take pictures. So, now I've taken a few pictures, hopefully I'll have more to share.

First up is this advent calendar. I have seen these all over the internet and have wanted to make one for two years and I finally decided that if I did nothing else, I would get this done. So on November 30th, this is what I had done. I'd like to add a few more embellishments and a sign that says "Countdown to Christmas" but it was done enough for my boys to enjoy it. However, I thought that I could fit 2 pieces of candy in each hole, but you can't. So I'm going to have to make another next year, one for each boy, and maybe another for baby #3. I'd also like to have enough time to make a few as gifts, but that's a pretty ambitious goal.

Halloween recap

So for my Halloween classes this year, we made a few cute projects. This one I've done before and it was a hit again. You can find the basic measurements on this post.

These are the treats we made to go in the bag. You may think these are York peppermint patties, but you would be wrong. York doesn't make the round wrappers anymore, so I found an off brand at the grocery store. The mummy in the middle was totally copied from one I saw on an SU demo only site, but the others were either completely my idea (purple people eater and pumpkin) or adapted from other ideas I saw.
And this is the card we made. I'm not a huge fan of Halloween, so I don't own any Halloween stamps, so we had to do projects using mostly punches. I did have a spider web embossing folder, so after running it through the cuttlebug I sponged silver shimmer paint over the image. Then we made the spider with the scallop punch and corner punch for the legs and 1/2 inch circle for the eyes.

Watercolor Trio

These are a couple of cards I made using this stamp set. I wasn't sure I would like this stamp set, but it came free, but since I've been playing with it, I really like it.
I'd like to play around some more with it, we'll see if I get a chance.

Double Scoop

Isn't this the cutest card. The stamp set is retired now, but it is so cute. I cased the card from this blog, but played with the size and the scallops until it was big enough to fit in the envelop I had. Ack, so fun.

Punched posies

These are more images from that same set as the butterflies (see previous post). I found inspiration for this card here. I used the same stamp set and color combo (except the original had orange, and I don't like orange), but changed the sentiment, flower image, and placement of elements.
And this is a completely different feel using darker colors and some clear and white embossing powder. I really like this card and am thinking, if I get a chance I would like to make a few more with different colors. This card is similar to one I saw on this blog.
